€3,000 bonus on offer at the GAIN Mares Series Final
GAIN Equine Nutrition are delighted to continue their sponsorship of the ‘GAIN Mares Series’ for the 2023/2024 point-to-point season. The opening race of this season’s series will take place in Lisronagh with the Tipperary Hunt on Saturday, 4th November and conclude in the spring with the much anticipated final taking place in Ballynoe, Co. Cork.
GAIN Equine Nutrition, along with the Ballynoe Point-to-Point committee will provide a €3,000 bonus for the winner of the final.
This year, the launch took place in Co. Wexford with two local point to point trainers Matthew Flynn O’Connor and Michael Goff.
Point to Point trainer, Michael Goff commented, “This series is extremely important for the mares in particular. Historically, the mares didn’t have a great platform in point to pointing and since the GAIN Mares Series, it has definitely brought on the quality of the mares that are staying in the industry. It is a privilege to win the series final, or even to be in it. In the point to point game, any incentive like this is a massive boost. I have a mare that I am going to keep for the series this year and looking forward to the season.”
Matty Flynn O’Connor mentioned, “The series is massive for the everyday point to point person and the grassroots of the industry, we’ve seen over the last few years the high calibre of mares coming out of the series.”

Many fantastic mares that have won the final have gone on to bigger and better things, such as winning Listed and Graded races. There is always a great ‘buzz’ at Ballynoe for the final, it’s a fantastic day out. I am looking forward to following the series and the build up to the final in March.
