GAIN RAILWAY STAKES CLOSES OUT 2022 CHAMPION COLLECTION SERIES

The GAIN Railway Stakes marks our third and final race of this year’s GAIN ‘Champion Collection Series’ at The Curragh racecourse on Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby Day on Saturday, 25th June.

The series, which acts as a stepping-stone for two-year-old horses to move up through the ranks of listed and group races shows a clear synergy of progression and boasts an impressive prize purse of €220,000 over the course of the three races.

Last year, we saw the Fozzy Stack trained, Castle Star win the first two legs of the series and go on to finish second in the final leg.

This year, the series continues to strengthen and once again proving the synergy of the three races with ‘Blackbeard’ trained by Aidan O’Brien taking victory in the first two legs and is one of the 44 horses entered for Saturday’s GAIN Railway Stakes.

The GAIN Railway Stakes, one of the oldest races in the calendar, first run in 1851 has seen some notable winners throughout the years such as Rock of Gilbralter, Holy Romen Emperor, Mastercraftsman, Sisken and most recently, the David Loughnane trained ‘GO BEARS GO’.

Once again this year, Horse Racing Ireland in conjunction with The Curragh, has agreed that the winning horse from the GAIN Railway Stakes will receive a free entry into the Group 1 Keeneland Phoenix Stakes, which will take place on Saturday, 6th August.

Be sure to join the action with live coverage on RTE with Hugh Cahill, Ruby Walsh & Jane Mangan or Racing TV, It promises to be a great days racing!

The GAIN Railway Stakes goes to post at 3.10pm with the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby taking place at 3.45pm.
